Primary Care

Primary and Urgent Care Services Available From an Urgent Care Medical Office

Urgent care is able to deal with patients with a number of different issues, from diagnostic testing to treating illnesses.

While urgent care is thought of by many as a medical center that treats minor emergencies, urgent care can also treat primary care issues as well.

Urgent care services

Urgent care can diagnose and treat most minor injuries and illness. While serious, life-threatening injuries, illnesses and conditions should be dealt with at an emergency room, urgent care can treat most other illnesses or injuries.

Diagnostic testing, minor injuries, illnesses and pediatric care are four of the main services most urgent care centers offer.

Diagnostic testing

Most urgent care centers have high-quality testing equipment, the ability to perform blood work and a highly qualified staff, which give them the ability to accurately diagnose their patients.

Therefore, not only is urgent care able to provide the initial treatment for various injuries, illnesses and conditions, but they are also able to diagnose a wide variety of other issues as well, which is typically thought of as a primary care service.

If an individual becomes sick and the illness is not life threatening, they can find out the exact cause at urgent care. With injuries, urgent care can treat the initial symptoms, including pain and swelling, and diagnose the extent of the injury as well.

Minor injuries

Essentially, any injury that is not immediately life threatening can be treated at an urgent care center, including bruises, cuts, sprains, muscle strains and many more common injuries.

One of the best parts about urgent care is that it is always ready to treat patients, and there is no appointment needed. Injuries can happen anywhere at any time, and sometimes, treatment cannot wait, which is when urgent care is the best option.

While a person may be able to wait for a primary care visit for their injury, there is simply no need to in many cases, as urgent care is able to diagnose and treat minor injuries in an effective manner.

Illness treatment

Much like an injury, one can get sick anywhere and at any time. While prompt care may not be completely necessary, it is often desired in order to relieve the most prominent symptoms.

By visiting urgent care for illness treatment, individuals can receive the same quality diagnosis and care that would have been administered at primary care, without suffering through discomforting symptoms while they wait.

Pediatric care

Urgent care is not just for adults; children can receive quality care at urgent care as well. Whether it is treating a common childhood illness or the scrapes and bruises children often get from playing, most of their needs can be quickly met at urgent care.

If a pediatrician or primary care provider is not available to treat your child, consider visiting urgent care to treat their symptoms in a timely manner.
