Experiencing difficulty breathing, raspy breathing

When someone has croup, they will experience difficulty breathing. Raspy breathing is common and means that when someone breathes in and out and has croup, they will make sounds when they breathe. This is directly due to the infection taking place within the lungs, as well as the swelling that tends to take place near the larynx and trachea.

Redness in the eyes (conjunctivitis)

Any amount of redness in the eyes is also a sign of croup. The eyes tend to get red because of the irritation that the infection is causing and while not painful, it can be very irritating. Red eyes are one of the more common signs that a viral illness present, which requires medical attention.
